Best of Show 1st runner-up award at Pacific International Quilt Festival 2011

My new ensemble, 'Textured Beauty' just won Best of show 1st runner-up award at 2011 PIQF in Santa Clara, CA. Happily announcing that I am adding one more sewing machine to my collection.

My New Article in Americal Quilters Magazine

AQS has run an article that I wrote in its November 2011 issue of American Quilters magazine. It's about a quilt wall hanging named Morning Glisten. I used sets of mirror-imaged, beaded, continuous prairie points to create flower blossom bundles and border embellishments. Check out the magazine if you want to see the step-by-step details of this interesting technique. I'm planning to teach this quilt wall hanging at Thistle Dew (former Tayo's) in Fair Oaks (Sacramento), CA. I will be at Thistle Dew quilt store on September 30th to celebrate its renaming event with showing samples of my new classes. See you there!

Loose Threads Quilt Guild in Valley Springs, CA

I just had a wonderful teaching trip to peaceful Valley Springs, CA this past weekend.
Again and again I am so grateful for hospitality and sweetness of my fellow quilter friends there.
Having a close encounter with beautiful and innocent-eyed llamas was a special experience.
I wish I could have some llamas in my own backyard (my HOA will kill me for that).
My special thanks to Marlene for letting me stay in her one-of-a-kind 2,300 sq.ft sewing studio/retreat. Thanks much, ladies!!!

My third book is coming!

Tentatively titled 'Cotton, Wool and Silk Quilts', this book will be published by AQS again in 2012. The manuscript already is with the publisher and the photos are added. Among others, it features unique Korean and Asian designs applied to new, comtemporary projects using cotton, wool and silk fabrics. Of course, I added more projects for my Chopkey (fabric folding) fans!

My 15th 'Best of Show' award at Mid-Atlantic Wearable Art Festival

I just found out that I've won 'Best of Show' award on my new ensemble, 'Les Fleurs du Printemp'
at Mid-Atlantic Wearable Art Festival in Williamsburg, Virginia.

I had a great time in Asilomar teaching 'Chopkey'. It was the last session of the 25th anniversary Empty Spools Seminar. It was my first time teaching there and now I know why people keep returning to this fun-filled event! I met wonderful ladies from all over the world. I feel so refreshed after breathing ocean air for 6 days.

Woodbridge Art Show

I am invited to Annual Spring Art Show of Lodi Community Art Center and Gallery on their 50th Golden Jubilee. The dates are March 20th and 21st and it is held in the barrel room at the Mondavi Woodbridge winery 5950 E. Woodbridge Road, Acampo CA . I am one of the three featured artists representing wearable art and quilts along with Marlene Heinz (jewelry) and Ning Hou (painting).
